College history

Polytechnic College of the Corporation Kazakhmys was registered on April 3, 2009 in the Justice Department of Balkhash town, Karaganda region. License No. 0039671.

Provides services in the field of technical, vocational, post-secondary education, training specialists with education on the basis of the 9th and 11th grades of the secondary school. Upon graduation, the graduate is given a state diploma.

Today, knowledge-intensive industries and industries that require large investments are experiencing staff shortages in skilled workers and mid-level specialists. At all levels, the issues of training workers and mid-level professionals began to be considered.

In the message of the Head of State “Through the crisis to renewal and development” and the taken course on the progressive industrialization of the country, the issues of training and retraining of personnel acquire special significance in the sphere of employment of the population and ensuring dynamic and innovative development of the economy.

Corporation “Kazakhmys”, which employs about 60 thousand employees, needs constant strengthening of the personnel potential, raising the level of its qualification in connection with the continuous development and introduction of new technologies and methods of organization of work. In these conditions, Kazakhmys Corporation has developed and implemented an internal integrated system of continuous training and retraining of personnel, closely related to industrial production. An important place in it is devoted to the creation, development and improvement of its own educational institutions.

By the decision of the Board of LLP “Corporation” Kazakhmys “from 16.03.2009. In 2009 the Polytechnic College of the Corporation Kazakhmys was established in the city of Balkhash.

Training is conducted on full-time, correspondence department and shortened forms in the state and Russian languages.

The college is headed by Syzdykova Aygul Shayakhmetovna. Educational and upbringing work is conducted by a highly qualified teaching staff, which includes experienced teachers who pay great attention to improving the forms and methods of teaching, the upbringing of the younger generation. Personnel potential: Teaching staff – 60 people, full-time teachers – 100%, of them with the highest and the first category – 40%, the highest category – 7, the first category -17, the second category – 5, 3 candidates of sciences, 4 masters.

New requirements for the content of secondary vocational education and new approaches to assessing its results set completely new tasks for updating the methodological work in the college. Working in this direction, the methodical service of the college is looking for new ways to improve scientific research work. In college, practical-oriented (applied), research, creative, information projects are used by teachers.

All educational work is conducted in close contact with the Republican organization “Alliance of Students of Kazakhstan”, the Youth Union of the Corporation “Kazakhmys”, the city youth organization “Murager”. In the college there is a group of technical creativity, where the guys are working with interest to create working models of equipment of metallurgical enterprises. In the long-term plan of the group the creation of a museum of the college.

     Priorities of the activity of the Polytechnic College of the Corporation Kazakhmys are determined by the desire for sustainable development of the educational institution, awareness of responsibility for quality service delivery to the Consumer of Kazakhmys Corporation, creation of safe and healthy working conditions for teachers, students and employees.

     The policy in the field of quality, occupational safety and health is an integral part of the overall strategy of the college, aimed at the quality and timely implementation of educational services in accordance with customer requirements, legislative requirements.

     The College is constantly working to improve the quality of educational services through the development and implementation of activities to manage the quality of educational activities, as well as through the introduction and continuous improvement of the quality management system in accordance with the requirements of ST RK ISO 9001-2016;

 In an effort to improve the effectiveness of educational activities, the following principles will be used by the college when an appropriate opportunity arises:

provide a high level of quality of services provided through the application of a systematic approach to managing a college, the introduction of modern equipment and software, continuous training of employees, creating a favorable moral and psychological climate and safe working conditions;

to promote the introduction of modern technologies, equipment and materials in educational activities;

to comply with the requirements of the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of education, occupational safety and health protection;

prevent emergencies, accidents and other damage to the health of college staff and seek to minimize their negative consequences;

motivate the staff to carry out their activities in the conditions of functioning of an integrated management system with an understanding of responsibility for education, professional safety and health of employees;

improve processes aimed at improving TB in order to exclude injuries in the college and at work, including during practice;

improve the overall situation and create safe conditions in everyday life in the society in which we live and work;

to evaluate the work of managers and specialists, personnel to improve educational activities and to prevent accidents, injuries and occupational diseases; staff motivation for this work;

inform all employees, contractors, visitors, listeners and other interested parties about the policy of the college in the field of labor protection.

Practical activities of the college

Of great importance is the formation of primary skills acquired by students in the period of training practice in the workshops of the college. Theoretical knowledge obtained in the course of studying general professional disciplines begins to acquire an applied character and be interpreted through the prism of professional activity.

Practical mechanics practice students in the workshops of the college, mastering the skills of locksmith and lathe business.

Workshops are equipped with metal cutting, processing, milling, turning, drilling machines and other technological equipment of Czech production.

Laboratory and practical classes are conducted equipped with modern technical means, equipment and installations in laboratories of automation of technological processes, electrical engineering, materials testing, hydraulics, mineral processing, pyrometallurgy, as well as chemistry, physics and technical mechanics.

Prospects for the development of the college

In the strategic development plan, the college team sets the following tasks:

• ensuring the quality of training and competitiveness of the staff of technical and maintenance work;

• improving the conditions for the implementation of educational programs through the development of infrastructure and material and technical base;

• bring the material and technical base of the Polytechnic College to a level that meets international standards and requirements.

The mechanism for achieving the objectives:

• the introduction of active, interactive, modular learning technologies that contribute to the formation of sustainable competencies, the need for independent search for knowledge;

• professional development of pedagogical workers for introduction of new educational programs;

• implementation of the quality management system in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001: 2008;

• introduction of a career development system for students in accordance with the Regulation on Young Specialists of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP;

• introduction of a system to regularly disseminate the positive experience of the work of educational institutions, encourage innovation in the system of technical and vocational education;

• Reconstruction and commissioning of new buildings of the Center for Training and Retraining of Personnel;

the opening of a unique training ground, which will be equipped with modern workshops and training rooms. In college, an effective dual training system will be introduced, where in parallel with the theoretical training, practical skills are mastered, as close to real production as possible.

Expected results:

• the quality of education will be improved, the general education of students will be strengthened;

• application of active teaching technologies in the educational process will expand;

• a modular training system will be introduced, harmonization of educational programs of technical and professional, post-secondary and higher education;

• The percentage of employed graduates will be increased, having the opportunity to improve their skills without interruption of production;

• Provision of structural subdivisions of the corporation with highly qualified middle and primary staff.

Dual system of education in college

Practical-oriented training is the basis of professional training of students and aims to consolidate and deepen the knowledge received by students in the process of theoretical training, acquire the necessary skills, skills and practical experience in the specialty being studied.

To a certain extent, the solution of this problem is facilitated by the implementation of the principles of dual technology in the learning process.

Dual education in the college is introduced from 2012.
